Las Perlas del Son - ¡Siacará!

Following up on their first CD, ¡Si señor!, which took this seven-woman band out of anonimity and onto the stages of major festivals on three different continents, ¡Siácara! offers an irresitible combination of son and bolero from the streets of Santiago de Cuba, played with a fire an a sensuality that is the hallmark of this all-woman band.

In Santiago de Cuba, it is not sufficient to be simply a group of seven young women in order to stand out in the very competitive world of traditional son, guaracha and bolero. Las Perlas have had to convince their local public with the strength of what they can offer as musicians: their capacity to re-interpret the traditional repertoire that they all inherited in a style that is young and new; the energetic play between the outstanding lead vocals of sonera singers Jacqueline Despaigne and Liliana Larrea and the chorus which responds as well as the ability to improvise freely on the tres guitar and bongos.
