Las Perlas del Son ¡Sí Señor!

Eduardo Llerenas, founder and producer of Discos Corason, found this band of seven young women in a small bar off the tourist circuit in Santiago de Cuba, where they were playing to a tiny audience with the same dedication and finesse that he later recorded for this CD.

He was interested in the band because they are all excellent musicians with a very personal style highlighted by creative arrangements of the classic Cuban repertoire of son and bolero which allow room for the highly-charged solos on bongos and lead guitar.

To top it all, Las Perlas boast the exceptional vocals of Jaqueline Despaigne, a rising star in the tradition of Cuban divas like Celia Cruz.

Las Perlas del Son are touring seven Canadian festivals in August 1998, making their European debut at the Biarritz Film Festival in September and touring the U.S. in May 1999.
