Known as Rey Baxa or, out of respect, as Ta Rey, this composer was very well known in the Zapotec region where he lived, as the creator of songs that captured, both in the music and the lyrics touched the soul of the Zapotec Indian community to which he belonged.

In this Zapotec bolero, 'Ra Bacheeza', (the date) a man tells of the woman who he used to meet by the well in the early hours of the night, when she left her house to collect water. Although she is now dead, the man continues to go to the well every evening in memory of the meetings that he used to have with the woman he loved.

Amongst other placings, this song was included in the Putumayo CD, 'Mexico.'
