Co-founder and lead vocalist of Los Jubilados, Mario is a well known composer in Santiago de Cuba although his songs have hardly been promoted outside the circle of musicians from the port where the son and bolero were born. This track is from the band's first CD, 'Cero Farandulero', which won the Cubadisco special prize in 1999. .

Classic bolero-son by Ignacio Piñeiro, played here by one of the two groups that first took son and bolero out of Cuba in the late 1920s. The Septeto Habanero was recorded, 75 years after it was founded, by Discos Corason, a matter of months before the legendary lead singer, Manuel Furé, had to retire from music.
