'Pensioned
but not retired, Los Jubilados is a great Santiago de Cuba son
band that has an incredible impact on publics of all ages and
cultures, wherever they play, from the most formal sit-down
theatres to outdoor festivals. These old guys, with an energy
that belies their age, are masters of the music that is so popular
today and they present their repertoire of Cuban son and bolero
safe in the knowledge that no-one plays this music like they
do.
Previous
tours include Mexico, (1999 and 2000), France and Spain (2000),
Germany (2000). They returned to Mexico in October 2001 and
their shows were so succesful that they were invited to return
again the following month as the closing act for two important
arts festivals.
